My family and I had a truly outstanding experience at Melissa's. Not only was the food delicious, but Christian, our server, went out of his way throughout the evening to make sure everything was perfect. We sat on their rooftop terrace enjoying the beautiful sunset, then to our surprise, a mariachi band arrived to perform for a table who was celebrating a birthday. We thought they would only be there for a song or two, but they ended up performing for half an hour! It was such a lovely way to spend our first night in Mexico; an experience that we will never forget. I highly recommend having dinner at Melissa's, and when you do, be sure to ask for Christian!
Really. Good. Food. It seems to have all been said, deservingly so, and here I am saying it too. The food is good, down home cooking good. The service is friendly from the door to dessert. Christian was our server and he and his team make you feel welcome and you can really see how much they enjoy their work and customers. Definitely will be putting Melissa’s on our rotation.
In short: I cannot find any complaints at all. Highly recommend. We had a dinner with my family. A waiter offered us to take the place at the terrace. It was nice warm evening so we enjoyed it much. Next the waiter brought and offered us fresh red snapper and grand shrimps. We selected red snapper and asked to grill it and bring the whole fish. That was enough for 3 of us. Also we took seafood soup. Youngest ordered grilled steak and they brought it Mexican style cut to pieces so you eat it like tacos. We can recommend everything we tried. Friendly staff, they served pro-actively. Nice music, not loud so you can talk.
Loved this place, a place worth walking to and trying. First the family is awesome, kind, and greet you with big warm smiles and conversation. The food is cooked by grandma, at least it looked like that. The beer is ice cold, the chips are local and good. You get some non traditional salsas, one was a soy sauce spicy dip, the other like a cream based veggie salsa. Both really good. For our main course; We had the Mahi Mahi, devil style, and they ask if you want it Mexican or American spicy...we went Mexican style and it was well worth the heat. Served up with a traditional rice, and steamed veggies. Although I think the veggies didn't go with the dish, it was good to have veggies in a meat world. Overall the fish was fresh, the rice and veggies cooked to perfection. I will go back. You should go! Given its slow season right now, and normally they are closed and on vacation in Oregon. They couldn't this year, so please go and visit them and help them be successful this summer.
We had heard good things about this restaurant and as we were in the area, we decided to stop there for supper. We had to wait five minutes as it was busy most of the patrons being tourists. We ordered the mango margaritas which were delicious and large for 150 pesos. We also both ordered the grilled mahi-mahi with mango sauce. It came with a very small portion of rice and a few sautéed mixed vegetables. The food was good, but not extraordinary in anyway. The staff on the other hand were fantastic. At the end of our meal, they gave us a complementary beverage, a choice of a tequila shot or Kahlúa and cream. We had one of each. Our bill came out to 950 pesos. For us, that was a bit too expensive for what was provided.
A restaurant that you must visit. Firstly, a great view of the sunset from the terrace. Secondly, excellent service: the chef provided a choice of fish and the type of preparation, sauce. We chose grilled red snapper with garlic notes - beyond praise. The initial serving immediately offers nachos with an appetizer before the ordered dishes are presented. Seafood soup and fajitas were also at a high level.
It is right next door to Dr. Victor Hdz Padilla. He is a great friend and dentist and brother of the owner of Melissa's :-) If you love seafood and you are in downtown Puerto Vallarta, please take the opportunity and treat yourself to a fantastic sea food meal. This restaurant is a few blocks from the Malecon. the address is very easy to find. The food is just incredible. So delicious you will love it. The staff is caring, super kind and they make it you feel appreciated. The atmosphere is fantastic. There is a roof top. Lot's of fun, great sunsets, fresh ocean breeze....Or on the main floor is very nice as well. Enjoy!
The atmosphere is great with a view of the ocean from upstairs. Service with a smile. Prices are higher than normal. The mussels were tasty. The seafood plate was good, not excellent. The octopus was overdone and mushy. The server, Chris, said the customers like it that way...WHAT!? Since when does a restaurant not cook food properly and cater to the clients taste??! Disappointed.
